Arts News Term 1, Week 1

Welcome to 2025
The performing arts team are excited for the year ahead and looks forward to seeing as many students participate in a range of events and activities throughout the year.

Firstly, there are a couple of staff changes for the year ahead. Anna Richardson, Director of Co-Curricular Arts, is now on maternity leave and has been replaced by Jo Mayne for 2025.

Jo is joined by Sue Bealing, who replaces Arts Facilitator Laura Hewetson. Jo and Sue are in the WN Performing Arts block office opposite the Black Box.

Term one kicked off with our Arts Sign up day, where students had the opportunity to be involved in a plethora of arts activities: dance groups, theatre sports, bands, orchestra, and visual and creative art groups. There is also a new Concert Band on offer. There are so many options to keep students engaged, enriched and experiencing all that Arts at SMC has to offer. Some of the co-curricular groups will require an audition (such as the Chamber Choir), and some only run during specific terms, so it’s always worth talking to the tutors to find out more.

The full Arts Co-curricular timetable will be coming in the next newsletter.

And, of course, soon enough, we'll be getting the wheels in motion for our Senior school production, which will be announced soon! Look out for all the audition information in the coming weeks.
