Julie Seymour inducted as Sporting Legend of Canterbury

The achievements of former Silver Fern Julie Seymour have been celebrated at the Sport Canterbury Annual Awards 2024.

Julie Seymour, St Margaret's College Old Girl, current staff member and former Silver Fern, has been honoured for her contribution to sport at the Sport Canterbury Annual Awards 2024.

Julie was inducted into the esteemed Sporting Legends of Canterbury ranks at the award ceremony, joining just 30 other Canterbury representatives who have made an indelible impact on their community through their accomplishments and service to sport.

Having represented New Zealand for 16 years as a Silver Fern, Julie has an ongoing influence on netball and young women athletes. In addition to her role at St Margaret’s Julie is currently Head Coach of the New Zealand U21 team that will be heading to the 2025 Netball World Youth Cup in Gibraltar, having previously been Assistant Coach to the title winners in Botswana in 2017.  At SMC Julie leads our Athlete Development Programme, educating our young athletes in all areas of sport, including nutrition, recovery and the balancing of multiple sports.

Diana Patchett, Executive Principal at St Margaret’s College says:

“Julie’s positive influence is far reaching, supporting young athletes aiming to be at the very top of their game, while encouraging girls across the board to engage in sport and take care of their wellbeing. Congratulations Julie for this well deserved recognition.”
