Karen Walker inspires at the Foundation Spring Lunch

The St Margaret’s College Foundation hosted its much-anticipated Spring Lunch at Ilex Café in the Christchurch Botanic Gardens last Sunday to a sell out crowd.

Although the weather delivered a stormy final day of winter, inside it was all light, warmth, and style as our community gathered to celebrate the season ahead.

The Foundation Spring Lunch has become an annual fixture in the College calendar, drawing together alumnae, parents, and friends for an afternoon of connection, conversation, and inspiration. This year’s event was no exception, offering guests the perfect mix of celebration and purpose.

We were thrilled to welcome Karen Walker, one of New Zealand’s most celebrated fashion designers, as our special guest. Fresh from the runways of New Zealand Fashion Week, Karen shared her story with warmth and wit, offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the creative process, the challenges of building a global brand, and her reflections on the future of fashion. Guests were captivated by her honesty, humour, and her ability to connect high fashion with everyday life.

Events like this are only possible thanks to the generosity and spirit of those who support us. A huge thank you to Karen Walker for sharing her inspiring insights, and to our sponsor, Treasure Box by Biani, whose support helped make this event possible.

Finally, thank you to everyone who joined us as we step into spring. The Foundation Spring Lunch reminds us of the importance of coming together to celebrate, to be inspired, and to invest in the bright future of St Margaret’s College.
