EGGstravaganza

The St Margaret’s College community came together in spectacular fashion for this year’s EGGstravaganza, in support of our College charity Educating Girls Globally (EGG).

This biennial event raised an impressive $14,750 in support of the five charities chosen by our Educating Girls Globally (EGG) student committee. Those charites are CAMFED, Christchurch Aunties and Tepesua, and Full Bellies and The Tanzania Project, through our partnership with Fife Foundation.

The evening saw our brave staff take to the stage to share their singing, dancing and acting skills, to the delight of our community, and all under the mentorship of our patient students. The evening was a showcase of creativity and courage and a celebration of the power of collective action.

Established in 2013 by then Head Girl Gussie Cohen and Deputy Head Girl Lucy Tothill, EGG was established to raise both awareness and funds to improve the standard of, and access to, girls’ education around the world. Since then, it has become a cornerstone of our school’s culture of service and empowerment.

Each year, students in Years 11–13 are invited to join the EGG Committee, taking on responsibility for fundraising events and initiatives, supported by dedicated staff mentors. The committee also inspires students across the College to advocate for every girl’s right to education, reinforcing the belief that education is the key to empowering girls globally. EGG has raised more than $120,000 in support of local and global charities. Learn more about EGG here.
