In this week’s TVNZ Country Calendar, we meet Rosie Dowling, an Old Girl of St Margaret’s College (Y9 1998), who has shown remarkable resilience and determination farming Kintyre Downs in Marlborough after her husband Gavin’s passing four years ago. While raising three children — one with a medical condition — Rosie continues to honour their shared dream of running the family farm.
Rosie’s deep care extends beyond her family to her beloved farm dogs, a crucial part of her day-to-day work and a legacy of Gavin’s passion for farming. A few years ago, she began a heartwarming project: building insulated, comfortable homes to ensure the dogs are warm and well-cared for, reflecting her commitment to both her animals and her family’s livelihood. Kelvin the Thermokennel are now in production.
Rosie’s connection to St Margaret’s College continues with ties to the current generation as the aunt of Georgie Todhunter (Y10).
