We are thrilled to announce Ashy Batchelor (Class of 2012) as the recipient of the 2026 Old Girls Arts Award.
Ashy’s creative journey began right here at St Margaret’s, writing music from the age of 13. During her time at school, she earned Honours in Music and was an active leader in our co-curricular community, participating in the Year 13 Choir, Senior Pops Choir, Jazz Band, A Cappella, school productions, the Sheila Winn Shakespeare Festival, the Arts Council, and serving as Manuka House Leader.
Since graduating, Ashy has forged an incredible career as an independent pop artist and songwriter. Her music has reached audiences globally:
Featured Tracks: Her single "EGO" was selected for Apple Music’s Top 100 Songs of 2020.
Releases: In 2023, she released her debut EP, Status, alongside hit singles including Mirror, LA Talk, and Jersey.
Global Stage: Ashy has showcased her talent internationally, performing as an official showcasing artist at SXSW in Austin, Texas, and SXSW Sydney in 2023.
Reflecting the true St Margaret's spirit, Ashy once encouraged her housemates with words that continue to inspire our students today: "Even if you don't win lets participate with spirit.
Please join us in congratulating Ashy on this well-deserved achievement and celebrating her continued success in the arts.
