Once a term, the St Margaret's College Old Girls' Association and the careers department pull together and host a session called Lunchtime Career Bytes. These sessions form a series of inspiring talks for students led by recent alumnae.
Two or three alumnae generously give of their time to come back to the school to chat to the students about their career path, what their field looks like today and what the future might look like. The paths they share are rarely straight. They include gap years, cold call emails, unexpected opportunities and roles that didn't exist when they were in year 13.
We encourage our young women to see that uncertainty is normal and curiosity is a strategy and that the SMC network is something real and lasting.
