Whether you’re settling into a new city, returning home, or have been based somewhere for years, these groups offer an easy way to meet other Old Girls, share local knowledge, and support one another.
Groups are currently active in Auckland, Wellington, Waikato, Bangkok and London, each with a local alumna helping to bring people together. In the Waikato, that connection point is Fiona Michel, an SMC alumna who is keen to help Old Girls in the region connect, whether they are new to the area or well established.
Similar connections are growing elsewhere, too, with alumnae in London and Bangkok also stepping forward to help create a sense of community for SMC Old Girls overseas.
Joining a regional group can be as simple as meeting others for a coffee, offering advice to someone new in town, or knowing there is a familiar network nearby. It is just as much about giving support as it is about receiving it.
If you are living in one of these regions, planning a move, or curious to see who else is nearby, we would love you to join. And if you are based somewhere without a group yet and would be interested in helping start one, we are keen to support you.
