Turning uncertainty into opportunity, current SMC students Margot and Charlotte Ainsworth spent their Covid 19 lockdown making candles. When the bubble burst the girls gave their creations as gifts to friends and family but demand quickly grew and the idea for a business was born.
Florence and Me make gorgeous bespoke candles and wax melts and because it’s a family business with the help of mum Jemima, and dad Shane, all of the candles are named after common phrases often heard around their house. Take a look at their website Florenceandme.com and choose to suit your mood - ‘I want to live with gran’, ‘Dad lets me’, and the very stylish ‘OMG are you serious’ set.
These names however are very much tongue in cheek as Margot and Charlotte are quick to say they love working together and with mum and dad handling the finances to ensure all profits are tucked away and invested for the girls’ future it seems a very bright one is ahead for them both.
