ITINERANT MUSIC CONCERT

Congratulations to our Itinerant Music performances for another great concert this week. We recognise the hard work you put into learning your instrument and honing your craft, and we appreciate your willingness to perform! Thank you to all our amazing Itinerant tutors for the mahi, care, and love for music you bring to teaching our students. We couldn’t do this without you.

COLLECTIVE CABARET 2024

Collective Cabaret is run by the Senior Arts Council, and is designed to offer a chance for students to come together and practice their performance skills in an encouraging and welcoming space. It was delightful to see sisters pairing up to sing, more duets and even a great dance! Thanks to all those who participated and supported this event.

DANCE NZMADE

DanceNZmade celebrates and embraces the strength, diversity and passion of dance in New Zealand, and is a wonderful opportunity for dancers to shine on stage.
Indie Symonds and Stella Dick competed at the Christchurch regionals for Dance NZmade on Friday 30th August, representing SMC in the Duet section, placing 3rd out of 14 participants.

Congratulations Indie and Stella!

DANCE SHOW

On Saturday, August 31, we celebrated the work of our dance students, enjoying pieces from both NCEA and IB dance choreographies. Students from our wide range of co-curricular middle and senior school dance groups # tookthefloor to showcase their hard work from the year.

Once again, we were blown away by the pure talent, hard work and performance level that every dancer brought to the stage. Congratulations on another successful and beautiful dance show.

We appreciate and thank all the teachers, tutors, and staff involved in preparing for and bringing the show to life.

CURRICULUM PERFORMANCES

Seeing curriculum learning take the stage last Tuesday at the Middle School Curriculum afternoon presentation in the Auditorium was wonderful. Miss Goldsworthy's year 9 dance class performed a beautiful lyrical dance. The girls learnt this at the beginning of the term, and many of them had never danced before.

Ms Woods's Year 10 Music class did a fantastic performance of Coldplay's Viva La Vida. The class has only been together for a few weeks, and many students had never performed on stage before.

We are incredibly proud of this group of students for having the confidence and courage to #takethefloor in a curriculum performance to an Auditorium full of parents and students. Well done!
