115 years ago, a group of determined women founded St Margaret’s College with a bold vision: a school where girls could be supported, inspired, and challenged to make their mark on the world.
They laid the foundations - not just in buildings and grounds, but in the minds and hearts of generations of girls. They could not have foreseen the extraordinary community the College would become, but they knew that the future would be shaped by faith, hope, and love.
Today, our students are shaping the next chapter. Their vision for 2025 is a vibrant new green space on campus - where nature meets community. The project includes new House seating for friends and families to gather and cheer on sports teams, and a student-designed sensory garden beyond our historic walnut tree, featuring native plantings to nurture biodiversity and invite moments of reflection.
This is more than landscaping. It is a space where girls will gather, laugh, connect, and grow for decades to come.
This September, every gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar thanks to SMC Old Girl Gina Satterthwaite, The Fife Foundation, and the St Margaret’s College Parents and Friends Association. Your support will go twice as far in helping us make this vision a reality.
When we plant these gardens, we will be planting for the girls who have yet to arrive - just as others planted for us 115 years ago. We invite you to join this chapter in our story and help create a place that will inspire generations of St Margaret’s girls to come.
E tipu e rea, mo ngā rā o tō ao - Grow up and thrive for the days destined for you.
