How did Old Girl Lucy Hadden (2016-2020) spend her summer? Using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to detect manipulative and fraudulent behaviour and appearing on a Times Square billboard.
Lucy spent her summer internship at Nasdaq - the American stock exchange, working on a new project involving generative AI and AWS services (Amazon web services).
“My role involved connecting a new AI tool to existing systems, making it readily available for analysts in our US markets to utilise.”
The AI tool Lucy was working on is designed to help analysts detect manipulative and fraudulent behaviour in exchanges and stock markets. Eventually, this technology will be rolled out to other international exchanges outside the US.
Lucy met with clients from international exchange teams who came to Sydney to hear about her work and how this could help them.
“I got to meet many interesting people from all over the world and work on a problem that will provide real value for our customers and ensure that marketplace standards are followed accordingly.”
The interns were then gathered to take a photo for a billboard in Times Square to showcase the ongoing program in Sydney.
