Badminton
On 22 and 23 June, we had our St Margaret’s girls badminton teams competing at the South Island Secondary School Champs. It was a tough couple of days on the courts, but there were some great performances!
Overall, our SMC Red team finished 4th in the South Island - a huge result for them, and our SMC White team finished 12th.
Results from Sunday:
SMC RED v CGHS (SF)
Lost 0-6 - a very polished performance by CGHS, who went on to win the competition.
3 v 4 Playoff v Waitaki Girls
Lost 1-5 - A couple of close 3-set matches, so a super close match - the bronze medal was so close!!
SMC WHITE v Marian
They lost 1-5 - again, two three-set matches that unfortunately didn't go our way - a huge effort from the girls.
Cross Country
Christchurch were fortunate to host this year's NZSS Cross Country event.
St Margaret’s College had 10 runners who competed in the individual races on the Saturday:
Anna Babington
Isabella Bridge
Florence Cottier-McCormick
Eva Crawford
Chloe Drinkwater
Kieva Hanlon
Isabelle Harrison
Samantha Lascelles
Elsie Seeto
Gemma Sitjes
Florence, Eva, Elsie, Chloe and Samantha also ran in the regional relays on Sunday. The relays are a fun way to end the weekend.
Florence and Eva, who were in the Canterbury Year 9B team, came a credible 4th, beating some A teams along the way. Samantha was in the Senior Mixed team and placed 3rd.
It was great to see some of our junior runners who came along to support their older sisters.
SMC won 1st place in the Year 6 Girls at the Canterbury Primary Schools' Cross Country yesterday.
Gymnastics
Congratulations to Jamie Hobson, who came 3rd on the floor and 4th on the beam at the recent Canterbury Primary Schools artistic gymnastics competition. Well done on your results, Jamie!
