Sports News 4 April

Congratulations to all students, coaches, parents and supporters who contributed to a memorable and enjoyable Summer Sport Tournament Week last month. 

SMC had teams competing at the NZSS Volleyball Nationals in Palmerston North, NZ Tennis Champs in Wellington, AON Maadi Regatta in Twizel and SISS Touch Champs, SISS Water Polo Champs and Satellite Volleyball tournaments in Christchurch.

There were some incredible results achieved across all codes showcasing the hard work, preparation and perseverance undertaken to achieve excellence. SMC Proud!!

EQUESTRIAN
Last week the SMC Dressage teams competed at the CSS Dressage Champs at the National Equestrian Centre, Congratulations to the SMC Red team who placed 3rd. 

Thanks to Equestrian coach Emily Cammock for coaching the riders.

St Margaret's College finished 3rd school in NZ on points and the last time we won the novice four was 24 years ago!!

South Island - Aine Leeson, Ava Readman, Lucy Tod and coxswains Bella Harris and Ellie Scotland.

TENNIS
Congratulations to the SMC Red Tennis Team, Sophia Amyes, Aliyah Daly, and Lucy Young - winners of the New Zealand Secondary Schools Tennis Cup event in Wellington during Summer Tournament week. 

Well done to the White team of Maddi Brown, Margo Dalling and Jess Gearry who put up some great challenges throughout the tournament.

WATER POLO
Congratulations to the SMC Senior A Water Polo team - SISS Champs in Christchurch during Summer Tournament week. The team is now in preparation to attend the NZ Secondary School Water Polo Div 2 Nationals in Hamilton in the April school holidays.

Team members are: Charlotte Coughlan, Brooke Mullinger, Amelia Frew, Lulu O’Donnell, Maddie Coughlan, Zoe Crosbie, Dominica Crestani, Abbey McCormack-Young, Abbie Langley, Mia Eden, Chloe Drinkwater, Isabella Alexander-Stewart.

VOLLEYBALL
St Margaret’s College Senior A team finished their best ever result at the NZSS Championships in Palmerston North, which is an amazing achievement with a relatively young team of: Julia Mitchell, Isla Cameron, Fadziso Madondo, Delilah Brown, Ciara Hartland, Danielle Mitchell, Annie Francis, Lulu Inglis, Lucie Davis, Hannah Millar and Lily Dampier- Crossley (injured). 

Thank you to Sebastian Gonzalez who has coached most of these girls from Year 9 and to their Manager Paula Vesty.
